The grandfather of Ptah served as a "priest / servant of Amun" during the reign of King Sheshonq I of the 22nd Dynasty. This prominent position during the 22nd Dynasty was not a religious position but was used by the Libyan generals to control the Taybeh region in Upper Egypt, and at the same time ruled Lower Egypt.
